Heartbeat March 2022

Welcome to our third edition of the HBCF Heartbeat. Let’s jump straight into it as there is a lot of terrific stuff to cover.

$105,000 to support flood-impacted communities in QLD and NSW

It’s heart-breaking to see the devastation that the storms and floods have caused in many of the communities where we have friends and family.

Traditionally we support our amazing charity partners via an annual grant program, but at times like this it is important we have the flexibility to step up and support the recovery process.

With that thought in mind, we have decided to donate $5,000 raised from our recent Business of Beers fundraising lunch to GIVIT’s storms and flooding appeal. We believe GIVIT is a remarkable charity and their giving model is highly effective in supporting local charities and community organisations to deliver vital goods and services directly to those in need.

Great news, the love doesn’t stop there. Heritage Bank have generously donated $100,000 to the Foundation allowing us to contribute $105,000 to GIVIT’s appeal.

Joining forces with Heritage, the lunch supporters and GIVIT is a wonderful example of living our mission – growing stronger communities, together.

If you would like to support the Foundation’s Storm and Flood appeal to support QLD and NSW flood-impacted communities you can donate online now.

See impact videos from our inaugural grant recipients

We're extremely proud of our inaugural grant round charity partners, who, under abnormally difficult circumstances, have gone that extra mile to support some of the most vulnerable Australians.

Each charity partner has an extremely important story to share and we have worked with them to create a series of videos that allows you to witness the impact their support has had on someone’s life.

Please take the time to watch these short videos as they are a powerful illustration of how our charity partners have used the Foundations funding to change life trajectories and builds stronger communities.

Impact of Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation grants

$25,000 available for inaugural Weis Community Fund grants

We established the Weis Community Fund, a Sub-Fund of the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation, this year through a very generous donation from Unilever.

The Weis Community Fund supports an annual grant funding program for local charitable projects that further innovation in agri-foods, sustainable farming practices and/or the next generation of local entrepreneurs.  To ensure the grants principally flow to the Toowoomba district, the selected initiatives need to be located in Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Southern Downs and/or Western Downs.
We’re extremely honoured to be given this exciting opportunity that will ensure Weis' contribution to Toowoomba and the surrounding areas continues.

The Weis Community Funds first grant round closes at 5.00pm on 28 March 2022.

Eligible not-for-profit organisations can apply via our website.

Workplace giving success

A massive congratulations goes to Heritage Bank on their Bronze Award in Workplace Giving Australia’s 2021 Workplace Giving Excellence Awards in the category of Best Launch/Refresh (Employer).

The generous support we receive from the Heritage Bank staff is absolutely amazing.  They play a major role in supporting our charity partners through donating, volunteering and helping to create awareness.

Business of Beers Fundraising Lunch

We are very pleased to say the Business of Beers Fundraising Lunch was a great success! Thanks to a lot of generous people we raised close to $12,000 to assist the Foundation further support our charity partners.

It was sensational to see so many people out enjoying themselves at The Rock Toowoomba while getting behind a worthy cause.  What made this event even more special is that all our wonderful prizes were 100% donated – a true example of the community coming together.
