The Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation today invited applications from not-for-profit organisations on the Darling Downs for $25,000 in grants under the newly created Weis Community Fund.
Funded by Unilever, the Weis Community Fund was created to help local organisations build a stronger and more resilient Darling Downs region.
The funding will support programs that lead to innovation, sustainable farming practices and the development of the next generation of local entrepreneurs in the agri-foods sector.
Applications for this round of grants open on 22 February and close at 5pm on 28 March 2022
How the total $25,000 is distributed all depends on the potential benefits the submitted programs have on the broader community. One or multiple grants could be funded and charities can apply for from $5,000 up to the full $25,000,
The Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation is very excited to be kicking off the first of what will be many Weis Community Fund grants.
The Foundation sees this as a very special opportunity to work in collaboration with community organisations to fund programs that honour Weis’ legacy by continuing to strengthen the region from where it was born.
Foundation Executive Officer Mr Paul Olds believes the Weis Community Fund has the ability to become a strong long-term contributor to the region’s economic development.
“At the heart of the Fund is Weis’ passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, continuous improvement, and quality agricultural ingredients,” said Mr Olds.
“By funding programs guided by these principles, I can see the Weis Community Fund becoming a vehicle that fosters much needed collaboration between charities, the commercial sector and government focused on growing stronger communities.”
Eligible not-for-profit organisations can apply and view full details of eligibility here.
The grant round opens today 22 February 2022 and closes at 5.00pm on 21 March 2022 AEST.
The Foundation will notify the successful recipients in early May 2022.
