The Heritage community has thrown its financial support to rally behind areas devastated by flooding in Queensland and New South Wales, today announcing a $105,000 donation to assist flood victims.
Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation is joining forces with Heritage Bank to support the GIVIT Storm and Flooding Appeal.
GIVIT is working closely with the Queensland and NSW Governments to ensure aid gets to where it is most needed.
The Charitable Foundation has donated $5,000 to top up the $100,000 contribution from Heritage, to make a total donation of $105,000 to GIVIT.
Heritage Bank CEO Peter Lock said the widespread impacts of the flood events made it more important than ever for the community to come together.
“We’ve all seen the devastation caused by the recent flood events,” Mr Lock said.
“It’s crucial that these hard-hit communities get the essential items and support they need right now to help them get back on their feet as soon as possible.
“At Heritage, supporting our communities is what we do, and is at the heart of who we are.
“Together with the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation, this donation to GIVIT will act as a catalyst to get genuine support to those who need it most.
“Importantly, 100% of publicly donated funds received by GIVIT are used to purchase exactly what's needed by local people and communities impacted by storms and flooding.”
Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation Executive Officer Mr Paul Olds welcomed the donation to accelerate critical support for storm and flood impacted communities.
“Having the support of Heritage at a time like this is absolutely critical. As a young Foundation we are in a growth phase, working hard to increase our financial capacity which will allow us expand the assistance we provide annually.
“Heritage’s $100,000 donation has given us the financial capacity to provide immediate and meaningful support to those affected by this devastating natural disaster while still being able to provide future support.
“This is a further example of Heritage’s commitment to making the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation a serious force for good, now and into the future.”
Heritage Bank members who want to help people impacted by the floods can now do so in two ways:
“Our members share our commitment to helping those in need, and we wanted to give them the opportunity to assist if they are able to,” Mr Lock said.
Donations will be accepted until 31 March 2022.
