Teams answer trivia fundraising challenge

The Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation has carried on the excitement of announcing its first-ever round of grants by hosting a unique trivia fundraiser.

The Foundation announced recipients of its first-ever round of grants just last month, with $90,000 distributed to worthy community organisations, and is already back on the fundraising trail.

The United Nations of Trivia fundraiser was held on Saturday 14 November when Heritage Bank staff, with their family and friends, competed in a unique trivia night held remotely by video conferencing.

As COVID-19 has made it difficult for charities and community organisations to plan physical events given physical distancing restrictions, holding the trivia with a twist event by video conferencing ensured the event would not be the latest in a long list of event cancellations in 2020.

There was still plenty of fun had by the 19 teams participating in what was the Foundation’s first official fundraising event.

About $6,000 was raised at the event, with the funds to help support the tremendous work being done by charities and community organisations across Australia.

“It’s been a really thrilling time for the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation as we have just distributed $90,000 in our first grants round to some tremendous charities and community organisations,” Foundation Executive Officer Paul Olds said.

“Following that up soon after with our first real fundraising event has added to the excitement.

“I’m really happy with the number of teams we had participate and I’m overjoyed with the positive feedback we’ve received from the night. It’s satisfying to know that we’re putting on fundraising events that people enjoy.

“We’ll definitely stage some more fun events in 2021 to give our generous donors plenty of enjoyment when they support the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation.”
